Harbour Island Bahamas Travel Guide

We just spent the most magical week in Harbour Island Bahamas celebrating Koast turning ONE (how!) and I am already trying to figure out the next time we can go. This was our first time to this island and it has been on my bucket list for years! It now ranks up their on my island list as top 2! Turks & Caicos is still one of our favorites for many reasons, but this now might tie that island! For starters it is 10X easier to get to Harbour island than any other place we have been to. The entire Island is just 3 miles long and you drive golf carts around the entire time. It gave me a feeling of Kiawah Island, Bald Head, Charleston vibes!!

How to get there: You fly directly into ELH airport. From there you take a 5 minute taxi to a boat ferry. Then another 5 minute taxi directly to your rental if staying on the Harbour Side. We flew from Charlotte NC airport and it was a two hour direct flight!!

Where we stayed: Villa Caza Tuna. A stunning estate that sleeps up to 18 guests across two beautifully appointed homes on this ocean front property. We had 4 total families that we split between the two houses and it worked perfectly. I did a full house store on social media here too to check out the behind the scenes of our stay!

You can book this house as a simple rental, or upgrade to their The Smith Road Collection experience that offers an all-inclusive upgrade, designed to take care of every detail from planning, to arrival, and through to departure. Enjoy the services of a soft-touch staff dedicated to your bespoke experience, including a personal chef, butler service, and host to ensure your stay runs smoothly and effortlessly. Our dedicated Smith Road Concierge Team will curate a fully personalized itinerary – from boating adventures and beach picnics, to in-villa spa treatments and coveted dining experiences across the island. All you have to do is arrive – the rest is taken care of.

We spent so much time outside enjoying this property!

This house is on the harbor side with your own personal dock. It is also a 5 minute golf cart ride to pink sand secluded beaches. I think you get the best of both worlds staying at properties on the water. The kids swam in the pool and then swam with turtles and starfish off the back deck daily! We did see sharks and stingrays periodically, so keep an eye out for those!!

What to do:

  • Explore the nearby Beaches: Pink Sand Beach: a renowned 3-mile stretch on the Atlantic side of this Bahamas island, is famous for its distinct, soft rosy sand created by crushed foraminifera shells. It is ideal for swimming, walking, and snorkeling due to shallow, turquoise waters shielded by coral reefs, typically accessible via rented golf carts.
  • Golf Cart around the Island & Shops: We rented our Golf carts ahead of time from Ross Rentals! Ask for a pink one way in advance 🙂 Make sure to stop by A & A hidden treasures on your first day and get a bag embroidered! It takes 3 days to complete!
  • Spend the Day at the Hotels: The Dunmore and Coral Sands are the cutest hotels ever! We spent the day shooting around the property and the tennis courts/basketball courts are adorable!
  • Boat Charter: We booked with Tyman Charters half day which takes you to see the turtles, starfish and conch island/swings. You can also rent your own boats for the weekend as options too.
  • Ride Horses on the Beach: I saw this a lot at sunset, breathtaking ride!
  • Visit the Other side: Take a quick boat trip over to this solar powered glamping hotel!

Where to Eat:

  • The Dunmore: This was our favorite with the kids. Loved they do dining first seating at 6:30pm and they don’t fill the restaurant up. It is open air or outside dining too. There was a huge lawn I playing with the kids while we waited for dinner and it was oceanfront!
  • The Pink Mermaid: At Coral Sands hotel, we also had lunch at the Beach Club! So cute!
  • Da Vine Sushi: We got to go from here one night, so good but also beware very expensive!
  • Portia’s Kitchen: We hired them our first night for a private chef dinner and it was so nice to not have to worry with the kids and we could all enjoy the house together too! Email them here: portiacurry@gmail.com

Other places I read about but we didn’t have a chance to make it!
  • Malcolm 51
  • The Landing
  • The Rockhouse

    Loved these spots!
  • Breakfast/Lunch: Arthurs Bakery (The donuts and breakfast sandwiches so good), Cocoa Coffee House, The Sweet spot. The acai bowls at both of the last spots were okay, felt premade and not much front on them!

All the swimsuits are from our new spring line LainSnow, coming out in April!!

We will be back for sure!! We loved this beautiful Island and Caza Tuna. There is still so much we weren’t able to do, so until then Ill be living through everyone else visiting this hidden gem!
